Are non-credit professional development courses only available for students who have a college degree?
No, CPE was designed to assist traditional and non-traditional students reach their educational goals. Our courses are made available to anyone interested in improving a specific skill set regardless of their educational background.
Where do I access my online courses and course materials?
What are the GPA requirements?
There are no GPA requirements for any of our non-credit professional development courses.
What should I expect from an online course?
Online courses typically consist of three primary components:
- Streaming video lecture
- An electronic discussion through which students conduct dialogue with a mentor and other classmates at any time of the day or night
- Posted lectures, presentations, and notes
Students go to the online class any time of the day or night that best fits their schedule and can stay in class as long as desired during the length of the semester. Further, they can view the video lectures and discussions over and over until the content is fully understood, a capability particularly useful in absorbing technical subjects.

How often do classes run?
We offer a variety of courses throughout the year, some courses are always available and run once a month, while others are scheduled every 2 to 3 months depending on the course length. Check our Upcoming Courses to see what is currently available.
Is there an actual NJIT professor teaching the course?
Yes, all NJIT online courses are asynchronous and instructor-led. Usually the same professor that teaches the on-campus course also teaches the online course.
What is a CEU?
Continuing Education Unit or CEU is a unit of credit equal to 10 hours of participation in an accredited program designed for professionals with certificates or licenses to practice various professions.
Can I use financial aid to pay for my non-credit courses?
NJIT does not offer financial aid and/or payment plans for non-credit professional development courses however, there are several options for loans from private banks.
Some companies offer employee reimbursement options. We will accept payment from employers willing to pay for all or portions of your tuition. An agreement may be worked out amongst the student, employer, and NJIT.
What is the difference between an online course and a hybrid course?
When a course is listed as “online” or “instructor-led WebEx session,” it generally means it is taught entirely online. Hybrid learning, mixes on-campus classroom and online instruction.
Do I need to create a new account if I am already an NJIT student?
No, simply login using your current NJIT UCID and password and select the course(s) you wish to register for.
What should I do if my PIN isn’t working or if I can no longer remember it?
Try your birthday in MMDDYY format.
I can't find the course I want to register for?
This course may be temporarily unavailable or our system may be experiencing technical difficulties. Please call us directly at 973-596-3061 so we can better assist you.
What is the course registration deadline?
You may register for a course up until the day before the beginning of the course's start date as long as payment has been made in full before the course begins.
Is an application required to take a non-credit course?
No, there is no application, enrollment fee or prerequisites required for any of our non-credit courses. Basic contact information is all that is needed to be admitted as an NJIT non-credit student. Admission into the professional development program is automatic and can be completed in as little as five minutes.
How do I pay for a course?
Payments can be made through NJIT Banner. Students should login, locate the Student tab, then select Student Account.
Full payment is not required to register but is due before the first day of class. Payment can be made by check or credit card: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. If a payment is not received by the first day of class, the student will be dropped from the course.
What is the course refund policy?
If you drop a course two (2) days before the start date, you will receive a full refund. If a course is dropped within 24 hours of the start date, a 75% refund will be given. Any course dropped on or after the start date will not receive a refund. In the event a course is cancelled by NJIT or an instructor, a full refund will be provided.
